Nah Is Here On Cassette, New Streamable Performance, and More!

Spring is sprunging out there and we're bringing the warm vibes with Jah Connery's Nah on cassette! This first pressing of the tape is limited to 40 hand-numbered cassettes. As a tape-head myself, I gotta say, these things are beautiful. Each tape comes with a Bandcamp download card. *Adorable succulent not included.

Also, yesterday Jah and KeeFlo took part in Michigan Music Alliance's Spread the Music socially-distanced festival to benefit Michigan Artist Relief Fund, set up to help provide assistance for Michigan musicians negatively impacted by COVID-19's blight on the music industry.

The full performance can be streamed here on MMA's Facebook page. They will continue to accept donations after the festival has concluded, but performances run through the weekend. As the only Detroit-based hip-hop artist to perform at the festival, we felt a degree of responsibility to represent the community, so we pre-recorded a set from 37th Shield Library in Eastern Market, Detroit. 37 Shield is a record store owned and operated by Dezi Magby (DJ Psycho) and Drew (Lordru) Potvin, who previously ran Division Gallery, an underground art gallery space that was a home of sorts for a vast cross-section of the Detroit Hip Hop scene.

Most notably, Division was home to Head Nod Suite, a monthly beat-maker showcase that fomented a culture all it's own. Recently, Turtle Box Distribution has relased the second volume of a collection of beats by producers associated with the night. Head Nod Suite vol 2 is hosted by Modern Knot's own television smasher Leaf Erikson and mixed by the legendary DJ Head, who backed Eminem during the glory years of his career. This mix also features a track from your boy Jah Connery. So if you're in Detroit, head down to 37th Shield Library, or order a copy from the comfort of your safehouse by clicking those links up top.
